Trust, Delight, Commit
Psalm 37:3,4,5
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed.
Delight yourself also in the Lord; and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
We are to trust in the Lord. That trust means that we rely on Him for everything. We are confident of His ability to take care of us. We look to Him for our every need to be supplied, our every want to be fulfilled. We shall dwell in His land of plenty. We shall be fed.
As we delight ourselves in the Lord, worshipping Him, revering Him, getting lost in His Presence, He delights to give us the desires of our heart. He puts the desires in there so that He can fulfill the desires. Isn’t that something! We have a Heavenly Father Who puts the desire in there so we can desire it so that He can give it to us, whatever the “it” might be.
Here is the “kicker’ clause. We are to commit our ways to the Lord; we are to trust in Him. When we do that, He shall bring to pass our desires.
Trust, delight, commit----three powerful words. We are to trust in the Lord, delight in Him, and commit our ways to Him. The results are: Being bountifully supplied, even having our desires fulfilled. What a God we serve!
Trust – You’ll be fed.
Delight – You’ll be given the desires of your heart.
Commit – He’ll bring it to pass.
Feed on Him and His faithfulness to you.
Delight in Him and He will even give you those secret petitions of your heart.
Commit your way to Him (that means to roll your care over on Him) and He’ll bring your desire to pass.
