Don't Let Go Of Your Dream
As I sat down at my computer, I picked up a sheet of paper on which I had written the following:
You never fulfill your dream by standing still.
What is a dream? How is it defined in our lives? Why is it called a dream rather than a plan? Is it because we think it is too big to accomplish or too good to come true for us? To me a dream is something that you think about and imagine happening for you in your life. In other words, it is the plan for your life, God’s purpose for you, the reason you are here on this earth.
We read in Ephesians 3:20 in the Amplified Bible that as a consequence of the action of God’s power which is at work within us, He is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think, infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams.
So, it seems to me here that what we see is God saying: The more of My power which is at work within you, the more you will see your highest dreams and desires and prayers and hopes and thoughts come to pass. And just how do we get God’s power to operate in us?
We all know from our previous discussions that we must spend time with the Lord to learn of Him and the way He does things. His ways are not the normal ways of the fleshly, earthly man. God has a system that we discover as we read His Word. His Word tells us how that system operates. It is the Kingdom of God system, the system King Jesus showed us when He was here on this earth. Jesus was our example to show us how a king conducts himself. As I recall, He is called the Kings of kings. Well, who do you think the kings are? They are you and me as God’s children.
God’s power is His Presence operating in us and through us. God’s ability is expressed as pure power. And who is God? God is love. His divine love is the greatest power in the universe. Then if that is the case, we need to learn how to walk in love, which means we would be walking in God, which means we would be walking in His power, which means we would see our dreams become realities.
A dream will keep you going when times are tough and when times are good. A person with a dream cannot be defeated. A person with a dream will go one more mile. A person with a dream won’t quit. A person with a dream will press on through to the other side. A person with a dream will succeed.
Paul, in Philippians 3:13 & 14 tells us that he reaches forth unto those things which are before him. He presses toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Paul understood how one accomplishes his dream. He presses forward, focusing on the prize which awaits him in Christ Jesus. A Christian, a child of God, presses in aggressively to achieve what He has been called to do. He is not passively waiting for it to happen. The one who sits and waits will be waiting forever and not accomplishing anything.
As we press, we can be assured that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is working with us, helping us to press on through to the other side of our dreams. In fact, Paul says in Philippians 1:6 that he is convinced that the Lord will complete the good work which He has started in us. We are told in Ephesians 2:10 that God has already prearranged and made ready the good life for us to live. He has prepared paths ahead of time that we are to take, that we are to follow. It has all been mapped out for us ahead of time. What we have to do is stick close to the Lord to stay on the path chosen for us, the one that God has placed the dream in our hearts for. And it is He Who will accomplish it for us. He delights in fulfilling the dreams He has placed in our hearts. It gives Him great pleasure to do so.
Today, think back to the dream that God placed in your heart. If you have let go of it, grab hold of it again and don’t let go of it this time. If you haven’t let go, press in more than you ever have. It’s time for dreams to be fulfilled.
