Pearls of Wisdom

God’s Word is full of Him, Who is Wisdom. Jesus is spoken of as the Wisdom of God. In the Bible the book of Proverbs is a definite book of wisdom, which is to be studied. This page is dedicated to bringing the wisdom of God’s Word to you so that you may find daily wisdom for your own life.

All Is Well

ALL IS WELL!

For anyone who has been reading his or her Bible for a period of time, we know the story of the Shunammite woman and her son in 2 Kings 4. She had made a prophet’s room for Elisha when he came by their home. Verse 9,10 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passes by us continually. Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in thither. And in verse 11: And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.

She gave to the man of God by sowing the seed of a place in her home for him. She gave to the prophet because she was obviously a giving person and saw a need that was to be fulfilled. She sowed a seed and Elisha recognized that it was a seed. In verse 14 he says: What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she has no child, and her husband is old. Elisha called her and as she stood in the door this is what he said to her. Verse 16: About this season according to the time of life, you shall embrace a son. And she said, No, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. Verse 17: And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life. She had her harvest.

Then we see in the verses that follow that the child was grown. He went out to his father to the reapers and he said to his father that his head was hurting. The father told the workers to carry the son to his mother. And when she had taken him on her knees until noon and held him, he died. She took him up to the prophet’s room, laid the child on the bed and shut the door. She then went to the man of God, Elisha..

When she was a distance away, Elisha saw her and sent his servant Gehazi to ask her: Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child? Her answer was: It is well. You should read the rest of the story in that chapter and meditate on it today.

I see persistence on her part and on Elisha’s part in this story after the child had died. They were not willing to settle for anything less than the result of their faith. I know all of us have had what we call “faith failures.” And some of you may be thinking this very minute: Well, why did it work for this Shunammite woman? I see one thing that stands out here above all else. She refused to think or say anything other than IT IS WELL. Some may say that she was lying as her son had died. How can all be well if her son is dead? But she refused to say anything other than God’s words. All is well; it is well; my God has given me the best and it won’t be stolen from me. She persisted in her faith, even when the child had died. We are not talking about healing here. We are talking about resurrection power. She knew where to go to get the resurrection power. In the Old Testament, the prophets, priests and kings were the ones upon which the anointing rested.

But, you and I in the New Testament, the new covenant, have that resurrection power residing in us in the fullness because the Holy Spirit dwells in our spirits which are housed in our mortal bodies. Our bodies are called the temples of the Holy Spirit. And as I have told you before, I looked up the word temple in this reference and it refers to the Holy of Holies. Inside us, in our spirits, in the Holy of Holies, the Holy Spirit dwells with His power.

The question you and I must ask ourselves is this: Is the power of God operating in me? And if it is not, why isn’t it? That is a reasonable question to ask. And only you and God can discover the answer. It is an individual matter. I don’t have patented answers for you. I can give you some general answers but that does a disservice to the Lord. What it all boils down to is this: Trusting God for His power to operate through us. And if it is not, then there are blockages to that power---there are areas that are diluting the power and presence of God of its effectiveness.

God is so desirous for you and me to walk in the fullness of His power. We must learn to think and say: ALL IS WELL! IT IS WELL! Why? Because God is in us today to make all things well, regardless of where we are in our walk with Him.
