Wisdom Is God's Hidden Treasure

Every day we need the Wisdom of God. His Wisdom gives us insight into the heart of a situation, which we would not otherwise know. There are times when His Wisdom will help us to circumvent a bad situation, avoid the difficulty altogether. Other times, His Wisdom helps us to deal with difficult situations and difficult people. He knows what is the ultimate best for you and for the other people involved in a situation. I stand in awe sometimes at how He will handle something that I had no idea how I was going to resolve. What a wonderful Father we have!

God stores up His Wisdom for us as His children (Proverbs 2:7). It is there in reserve waiting for us to tap into it. All we have to do is ask of God as James 1:5 tells us. When we lack wisdom, we ask Him for direction. He gives it to us liberally and doesn’t scold us for asking. We follow or obey, and all is well. Disobey or not follow and all is not well.

God gives us Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6). He reveals to us His Wisdom. By the power of the Holy Spirit God gives us His vision to see what we should do. We pray that the eyes of our understanding are opened (Ephesians 1:18). We receive the Holy Spirit of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. It is the Holy Spirit Who searches the deep things of God. He teaches us to interpret spiritual truth (1 Corinthians 2:10-13). He gives us understanding of the way in which we are to go. He is our Helper and our Guide. We must totally rely on Him for our life’s journey on this earth. With the Holy Spirit’s direction, step by step, we walk out the destiny God has prepared for us. And, yes, it is a good walk.

How do we access this hidden treasure of God’s Wisdom? We pray much in the spirit and spend time with God, fellowshipping around His Word. The secret is time spent with Him. It is called intimacy. The more time we spend with Him, the better we know Him and the clearer we hear His voice.

It is our responsibility to seek the Wisdom of God, to ask for the Wisdom of God. We hearken to the Wisdom of God, and we dwell securely, in confident trust and shall be quiet without fear or dread of evil (Proverbs 1:33). We make our ears attentive to the Wisdom of God. We include and direct our hearts and minds to understanding, applying all our powers to the quest of it (Proverbs 2:2). We pay attention to God’s Word. We incline our ears to; we consent to; we submit to His Word. We don’t let His Word depart from our sight. We keep His Word in the center of our hearts. Why? His Word is life to those who find it and health, healing, medicine to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-23).

We are to keep God’s Word continually in our heart and life. His Word (of Wisdom) shall lead us, keep us when we sleep and talk to us when we wake up, for His Word is a lamp and the whole teaching of His Word is a way of life (Proverbs 6:20-23). His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105). His Word is perfect, restoring us to wholeness. His Word is sure, making us wise. His Word is right, rejoicing our hearts. His Word is pure, enlightening our eyes. His Word is true and righteous and more to be desired than fine gold. It is sweeter than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. By His Word we are warned, reminded, illuminated and instructed. In keeping His Word of Wisdom, there is great reward. (Psalm 19:7-11).

As we learned yesterday, Christ is the Wisdom of God. He is the gift to us. He is also called the Word. We have the Wisdom of God in us if we are born again. What we must do is yield to Him Who is called the Wisdom of God----Christ Jesus, the Word, the Wisdom of God. Yielding is an action word; it is something we practice. When we hit a bump in the road, let’s yield to the Wisdom of God Who is in us. He knows the way.
